Working remotely seemed like wishful thinking until the need called for it. With the onslaught of a global pandemic, companies all over the world were forced to think of ways to keep operations afloat. It was a difficult time, especially when a crisis like COVID-19, unforeseen in all its suddenness and severity, forced small to medium sized businesses to adapt. While others closed down, the rest took to sending employees home and working virtually to keep operations running. OneHalf Staffing Solutions is one of them.

OneHalf pays attention to the needs of our team in times of crisis. With the limited resources we had for an emergency of this scale, we made sure that our staff were cared for and provided with what they needed to work comfortably and efficiently from home. Employees without internet connectivity and/or their own office equipment were allowed to take their office computers home and were provided prepaid LTE connection. Transportation was readily available through the combined efforts of the management and staff to send these equipment home. In-house accommodations were provided for employees who lived too far or had poor reception. Redistribution and reallocation of tasks and roles, adjustment in work hours and more allowed over 200 employees to keep their jobs while the rest of the local competition lost their employees and businesses to a sad and slow end.

This new set up proved effective not only in ensuring the health, safety and job security of our employees, but also providing them more flexibility in their work-life balance. Mothers and fathers now had more time with their children. Young singles could now save on finances with there being no need for transportation daily.
